In September of 2003, we drove up to North Carolina, going through Georgia & South Carolina, in search of furniture (N. Carolina
being the furniture capital of the world). On our way back, we stopped for a few hours in Savannah, GA. The city is beautiful,
and is being completely renovated. Most houses there are "upstairs/downstairs" types, meaning there's one entrance for the
"servants", and another for the "masters". Of course, nowadays, there's usually one house upstairs, and an apartment or
small business downstairs. Some of the houses are still rundown, but many have been fully restored. The historic district
is basically a big square area with some 20 "squares", small city parks or green spaces commemorating a historic event or
important person. The cathedral of St. John the Baptist is a beautiful monument located near Lafayette Square. This one is
a must see! Below are some of the pictures we shot on the 10-hour drive and stop in Savannah. Enjoy!
